Conversations around the Water Cooler

Conversation around the water cool is a blog that contains conversations that were held in passing thru home, work, school, or in other settings among friends.

In passing I’ve talked to a lot of people over the past couple of weeks and came to the conclusion that I haven’t heard a message about the Cross or
The blood of Jesus. Lately the church has turned the Gospel into a message of self- help and a recovery program. There is no anointing in the service anymore. I can stay home and time what is going on in the house of God and tell a person when they are about to get out of service. There are few items I want to talk about and will go into detail. Christ, Wounds of Christ, and the pulpit ministry.

Somehow, the church has forgotten the mission of Jesus. Jesus’ mission on the earth was stated in Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to Heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of the sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed, To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” This scripture is very powerful. The Master’s role is right there. For some reason the church has forgotten this mission. Instead of focusing on the mission of Jesus we are searching for other things like a bigger house, nicer car and just making ourselves bigger instead of making the mission of Jesus bigger than us. We have forgot the bible states “Seek ye the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto thee” or “Do not lay up for yourself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal”. So my friends I urge you to seek the Kingdom!

Secondly I urge you to look at the Wounds of Christ. In Isaiah 53:3-5 bible states: Isaiah 53:3-5 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Let us take a look at the Wounds of Christ:

Studying the wounds of Christ believers can receive faith for deliverance in every area.

1. Peace (His Brow)

Christ began to taste the cup of anxiety, tribulation, and pressure in the Garden of Gethsemane. He chose the Will of God and paid the price. The blood came to the surface of his skin and ruptured capillaries (extreme mental pressure) Jesus took my cares, worries, and anxieties upon Himself and gave me peace

2. Healing

Isaiah and Peter both prophesied " By His wounds you were healed (Isaiah 53, I peter 2:24) one of the duties of the Roman lector was to scourge criminals. Using the whip with razor-sharp tentacles embedded with lead and bone, the lictor systematically shredded the victim's back as he infected the brutal scourging. As the beating occurred the tortuous tentacles of the whip flew....

3. Forgiveness

Colossians 2:14 says...hanging canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us....has taken it out of the way having nailed it to the cross....a certificate of debt (iou) in the day of Jesus was a hand written promisary note. The ancient method of debt cancellation involved driving a nail through the note and posting it on the purchased property when the debt was paid.

Every sin in our past is a legal IOU in our own handwriting. When Christ was crucified, our list of spiritual IOUs was nailed between His hands at the cross. ...debt was cancelled!

4. Victory (his feet)

Colossians continues...And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross...After a Roman military triumph, the victor always placed his foot upon the neck of the fallen general, much as Joshua did to the five Kings at Makkedah (Joshua10:16) Jesus (Eph 1:22)

5. Blessing(The Head)

The thorn is first mentioned in Gen 3:18 as part of curse that came upon Adam. Christ was crowned with thorns symbolizing His taking of the pain, suffering, and poverty that entered the world after Adam and Eve's sin. The crown of thorns Jesus wore represents the crushing of the spirit of poverty, debt, and lack, (Phil 4:19)

6. Inner healing

The piercing of Christ’s side represents the breaking of the heart. The inner wounds and heartbreak of my experiences and circumstances are healed as I release bitterness and experience forgiveness.

Lastly I would like to talk about the pulpit ministry. In this age, the pulpit ministry is no longer sacred. Ministers and pastors alike use the pulpit as an arena to get bigger and bigger. Not in the sense of ministry but for their personal agendas. Using the pulpit for personal gain is so prevalent in this date. I was visiting/attending a church earlier this year and the pastor stated “I don’t like to be corrected.” And that was across the pulpit during a Sunday morning service. Later I left that church and moved my membership because of several situations that lead to integrity and character issues with another pastor on staff at the church located in Kennesaw, GA. Please be careful about the words that come out of your mouth!

If you are a pastor reading this blog please make sure you are not too busy to hear your sheep. Your sheep are very important and you are going to be held accountable for what you do to your sheep. One of the most important things to do as a leader to apologize if there was any harm you have done! Pastors please get this. If you have hurt your sheep/flock administer healing to them or give the opportunity for closure that way there is no room for hurt/bitter feelings. Get the opportunity to your sheep because you really don’t know who is in there or what they can do to elevate the Ministry of Jesus Christ. I’ve learned a lot about church leaders while attending this church. I found out that the leaders of that church were anointed but immature in the IWord. The leaders couldn’t rectify issues with people and with staff alike. People would leave the church and not even one phone call from these leaders to clear the air or anything. But they do love texting though..DON’T SCATTER YOUR SHEEP! THAT IS EXTRA WORK FOR YOU!! John 10:11-13 states “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep”…….to be continued…..
